What: Honoring Peggy Lutz as a WWII Veteran and Air Traffic Controller with the US Navy
When: Wednesday, Apr 10, estimated 10:30am - 12:45pm
Where: mini ceremony (Southern Mezzanine in Aviation)
Why: Honor Peggy’s life as a WWII Veteran and local Hero.
How:
Site visit on Monday, Apr 8 from 10:30-12:00 with coordinators, decorators, etc. (all have been briefed on no helium balloons!)
Actual Ceremony Wednesday, Apr 10: In partnership with Spirit of 45 Leader, Barbara Jensen (barbarajensen@hotmail.com), this ceremony starts with a motorcade assembling in the NE corner of the North Parking Lot.
1030: McMinnville Fire Department Ladder Truck Flag Position
1045ish - Peggy’s arrival (Peggy and family to be seated in the Aviation Portico to observe the motorcade. Special Red Comfy Wide Chair to be ready for Peggy to sit in)
1100-1115 - American Legion Motorcade & McMinnville Fire District Gather and Salute WWII WAVE Peggy who will be seated at EASM’s Aviation Museum portico to observe the motorcade.
1115-1130 - Guest Break (transition to inside museum to Southern Mezzanine)
1130-1215 - Honors from Sen Wyden’ Staff, Representative Elmer, Various VIPs, Awards & Living Legacy Certificate Presentation, and general short Birthday Wishes
1215-1230 - Brief Cake Reception w/ coffee, tea, (FROM AVIATOR CAFE)etc.
1230-1245 - Guest Break (Peggy transitions to next event if able)
1245-TBD - Brief Visit to American Legion Post 21 for optional
1315 - Peggy Returns Home (at any time she sees fit)
EASM to:
Prepare FTC to be clean and well lit. Control Tower to display “Happy 102nd Birthday Peggy” [Ops/IT,EDU]
Prepare wayfinding signs for guests. Need to differentiate between Birthday guests and regular EASM guests.[Creative/Marketing]
Prepare Elevator to receive guests [OPS]
Prepare both Southern Stairs to be clean and well lit [OPS/Facilities]
Prepare ceremony with special VIP seat for Peggy and seating areas for 80 guests [OPS]
Museum to provide PA, mics, COFFEE & TEA, etc. ceremony
